The Los Angeles KISS joined the AFL in 2014, owned by none other than KISS. The silver turf and ownership was a great draw, but the on-the-field play was lackluster. The KISS won two of their first three games, including their home debut, but went on to lose the rest. The schedule was not kind, with 13 games coming against playoff teams. The team had a small core of veterans, with Aaron Garcia and J.J. Raterink quarterbacking and Donovan Morgan being the obvious target. However, Raterink and Garcia combined for 36 interceptions to just 64 touchdowns, despite passing for 4,044 yards. Morgan caught 37 touchdowns and amassed 1,878 yards. The team posted one of the worst offenses in league history, averaging just 39 points per game, while allowing 56. The 2015 season was much of the same, averaging just 40 points per game and getting off to an 0-9 start. The team got its first victory at home against Portland and followed it up with one of the more surprising upsets in AFL history, defeating San Jose in overtime on the road. Danny Southwick quarterbacked the second half of the year, passing for 2,342 yards, 43 touchdowns and ten picks. Arena veteran Donovan Morgan led all receivers with 2,074 yards and 44 touchdowns. The team was just 69% in the red zone and quarterbacks were sacked 44 times to just 14 recorded for the KISS defense. The KISS returned with a 7-9 record in 2016, as Pete Thomas and Nathan Stanley split time at quarterback, combining for 4,074 yards, 84 touchdowns and 20 picks. Donovan Morgan caught 41 touchdowns, eclipsing the 1,000 touchdown mark in his career during the season. The team put together two wins each against Tamp Bay, Portland, and Cleveland, along with a victory over Jacksonville. Come playoffs, however, Cleveland avenged the loss with a 56-52 victory in Los Angeles. The team went dormant after the 2016 season.
