The RiverCity Rage got out to a great start in their new league. After a 5-0 start, it seemed the Rage would not be stopped by anyone. However, four turnovers in a game at Colorado brought the Rage their first loss, 31-6. This began a four game skid and the team finished 4-6 down the stretch. RiverCity still attained the number two seed in the Eastern Division and hosted Lexington, a team they beat twice during the regular season. However, the third time was the charm for the Horsemen, as they earned a 48-33 victory over the Rage. In 2008, the Rage earned a playoff berth with a 6-8 record. A seven game losing streak was sandwiched between two three-game winning streaks to begin and end the season. After defeating the Sioux City Bandits on June 7th, the Rage ousted them again in the playoffs two weeks later, 37-33, setting up the fourth game of the year with the Bloomington Extreme. The Rage held the Extreme to six field goal attempts, but by virtue of four interceptions, the Extreme took a 33-0 lead late into the fourth quarter until the Rage finally averted the shutout via a 30 yard touchdown reception by Virgil Union with 1:20 to go in the game.
