The Houma Conquerors were a brand new franchise in 2009 for the new SIFL. The team got off to an 0-5 start, playing only one home game. Omar Haughbook led the team at quarterback, passing for 20 scores and 14 picks, while rushing for 10 scores. The Houma defense wasn't completely terrible either, as they only gave up 21 passing scores on the year. The team was outscored by an average of 38-32. Despite only winning three games, one a 55-0 win against a replacement squad, the team was awarded a playoff date in Louisiana. The game was never competitive, as the Swashbucklers rolled over Houma 61-19.
