The Georgia Fire were a last minute replacement team, as the Albany Panthers were forced to leave the league right before the season began. For being so rushed and playing in a small venue, the Fire competed well, going 4-8 in the regular season. The team's first win came in against Alabama, in which the two teams combined for 64 points in the fourth quarter. The team's four wins came by a combined fourteen points. Cecil Lester quarterbacked the vast majority of the season, passing for 2,398 yards, 49 scores and 14 interceptions. His top targets were John Harris, John Lester, and Ronald Davis, who combined for 48 touchdowns.
