The Tupelo Fire Ants were largely unsuccessful in the NIFL. The team posted just one winning season and never earned a playoff berth. In 2001, the team finished last in their division, with only two wins, both at home. The team gave up an average of 45 points per game, while scoring just 23. In 2002, the team made some improvement, but not much. The Fire Ants won four games against Oklahoma, River City, and Louisiana. The team never scored more than 41 points in a game. The team repeated in 2003 with another dismal season. This time it was a 2-12 finish and the team scored no more than 43 points in a game. In their final year as part of the NIFL, the Fire Ants finally experienced some success. Tupelo went 8-6, being held to under 50 points just three times. This winning mark was not good enough for a playoff berth, however, and following the 2004 season, the Tupelo franchise joined the UIF.
