The Tri City Diesel played four seasons in the NIFL, qualifying for the postseason only once. In the inaugural season, the Diesel went 6-8, finishing fifth in a six team division. The team improved by a game the following year, but again missed the playoffs. The Diesel scored 50 points or more in just two games, usually being held in the teens and twenties. The franchise took a step back in 2003, winning just four games and only one home game. The team’s offense was a little better, scoring 50 points or more six times. However, the Diesel went 3-3 in these games. In 2004, the franchise had its best season; an 11-3 finish and the team’s first-ever playoff berth. The team really came together on both sides of the ball, going 6-1 in games where they scored 50 points or more. These games included a few blowouts against Wichita Falls and Sioux City. However, the success stopped in the playoffs, as the Diesel was sent packing by Utah, 59-42. The franchise is considered inactive for the 2005 season, but all signs indicate that the Diesel will not return anytime soon.
