The Houma Bayou Bucks suffered through a dismal first season in 2002. The team managed only four wins over Tupelo, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Austin. The team showed promise, as they came within eight points or less of winning four other games. In 2003, the team had its first winning season at 10-4. The team won with an outstanding defensive unit, The most points the team gave up in a winning effort was 43. In the playoffs, the Bayou Bucks met the Lack Charles Land Sharks, and were crushed, 44-19. The following year, the Bayou Bucks had another outstanding regular season, finishing 11-3. The Lexington Horsemen ended Houma’s season 70-63 in the first round of the playoffs.
