Despite a winning season, the Billings Thunderbolts did not go to the playoffs. Four points separated the team from two wins: a 68-65 loss at Casper, and a 74-73 heartbreaking loss at home to Black Hills. Despite scoring an average of 55 points per game, the Thunderbolts gave up and average of 50 per game, which was fourth worst in the league. After the IFL was bought out by the AFL, the franchise moved to the NIFL, where it remains today.
