After two years in the NAL and making the league semifinals in 2023, the San Antonio Gunslingers joined the IFL for the 2024 season. After dropping the first three games of the year, the team won six of the next eight, but would finish at .500 and miss the playoffs. San Antonio's offense put up 52 points per game but the defense was hammered for 54. Sam Castronova had a stellar season at the quarterback spot, throwing for 3,336 yards and 75 scores, with just seven interceptions. He also ran for 439 yards and 23 more touchdowns. Nyqwan Murray hauled in 27 of those touchdowns and amassed 952 yards on 73 receptions. DJ Myers brought in 20 more scores and 892 yards on 72 catches.
