The Katy Ruff Riders were an expansion team for 2007. The Riders started off quickly, led by experienced indoor football veteran Albert Higgs. The Riders were 5-1 after six games, but were not tested by a strong team in those wins. The next four games were all one-score losses. The team finished at 7-7, one game behind Frisco for the final playoff spot. The Ruff Riders returned in 2008, but again were subpar. Quarterbacks Jermaine Alfred and Albert Higgs combined for 62 touchdown passes, but 26 interceptions. The team was outscored by more than 110 points between the second and third quarters of games. The team began the year losing five of their first six and finished at 5-9, losing a three-way tiebreaker to Alaska for the final spot in the playoffs.
