The Alaska Wild were originally to join the af2, but did not meet the financial requirements of the league. The IFL took them in and the Wild played through an entire season despite being so far away from Texas and Louisiana. The Wild were outscored in the first half of games 444-236. The Wild were unable to crawl out of the deep holes and lost twelve consecutive games. However, they won their final two home games against Odessa and San Angelo. The Wild won four of their first six games in 2008, and all four wins were blowouts. However, thet team just one more game all year to end the season at 5-9. The team remained winless on the road and qualified for the playoffs at 5-9. A game at CenTex was postponed one week so that CenTex could host the game instead of traveling to Anchorage. CenTex won 71-18.
