The Kansas City Renegades replaced an AFL team that also played at Kemper Arena. The Renegades were successful in their first year, going 8-4, but missing the playoffs by a game. Two wins came against playoff-bound opponents. Chris Coffin spent fives games at quarterback, leading quarterbacks with 873 yards, 26 touchdowns and two picks. Keithen Valentine led all rushers with 259 yards and ten scores. OJ Simpson, Anthony Parks, and indoor veteran Clinton Solomon all caught at least 11 touchdowns.
