The South Carolina Force were an expansion franchise in 2009 and were the most competitive of the expansion teams. Andrew Webb led the team at quarterback, throwing 17 of his 38 touchdowns to Isaac West and ten more to Anthony Young. Webb also ran for 180 yards and ten scores. The team did not return any interceptions or kickoffs for touchdowns, interestingly enough. The team's schedule was not favorable early on, as the first two games of the year were losses to Fayetteville and Reading. The team was 3-6 after nine games before winning four of its final five. The team finished a game behind Fayetteville for a playoff berth. Following the 2009 season, the Force joined the SIFL.
