The Augusta Spartans completed an unsuccessful 2006 season. In the final week of the regular season, the Spartans defeated the playoff bound Raleigh Rebels in overtime, 48-40. Following the 2006 season, the Spartans left the AIFL to help form the World Indoor Football League. After winning the WIFL championship, the Spartans moved to the AIFA and became the Colts. The new Colts began the season at 6-1, but one just one of their remaining games. Six quarterbacks combined to throw just 48 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
