The Tulsa Talons joined the new AFL after spending several successful years in the af2. Justin Allgood quarterbacked the team, throwing for 4,359 yards, 109 touchdowns, and 16 picks. Donovan Morgan and Jeff Hughley again led the wide receivers, combining for 236 catches and 80 touchdowns. Odie Armstrong led the team in rushing with 13 touchdowns. Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneer Chris Royal picked 11 passes as a Talon. The defense also forced 20 fumbles. Tulsa won four of its final five regular season games to easily clinch a division title and host a first round home game in the playoffs. However, a 2-4 record against established AFL franchises did not improve. Tampa Bay took a 34-19 halftime lead and never looked back en rout to a 68-38 drubbing of the Talons. The Talons returned in 2011, going 8-10 in the extended regular season, but with only one win against a team that would make the playoffs. Matt Bassuener, a new name in the AFL, threw for 1,803 yards, 27 touchdowns and 12 picks. Then, former Tulsa quarterback Justin Allgood returned to the team after leaving Philadelphia. Allgood threw for 2,070 yards, 41 touchdowns and five picks. Troy McBroom caught 149 passes for 1,747 yards and 31 scores. The Talons allowed 101 passing touchdowns, but only 17 on the ground. Tulsa scored 42 times on the ground. J.C. Neal picked nine passes for Tulsa, returning three for touchdowns. In a home game against Utah, the Talons had 81 points with 10:30 left in the game, but did not add to their total. Following the 2011 season, the Tulsa Talons moved to San Antonio.
