The Fort Wayne Fusion began as a troubled expansion franchise. Rumors abounded about ownership owing $400,000 in unpaid expenses. The team did gain attention by hiring AFL Legend "Touchdown" Eddie Brown as the head coach. The Fusion sputtered to a 5-11 season, getting blown out on several occasions. After the season, the Fusion folded amidst ownership and financial woes.
