The Madison Mad Dogs used a strong running attack and a tough defense to claim a 35-28 victory over the Texas Bullets of the Professional Indoor Football League Saturday. The win was the Mad Dogs' second consecutive win of the season and dropped the Bullets to 0-4.
The win is the Mad Dogs' first league win following a victory over Great Britain in an exhibition game Monday.
The Mad Dogs' defense, holding their opponents under 30 points for the second night of the week, stood firm on third and fourth down. The Bullets were 0-10 in pushing for the first down. Led by linebacker Michael Harge, the Mad Dogs' held the Bullets to just 151 yards in the air and -11 yards on the ground. Harge finished with eight tackles and one interception.
The secondary frustrated Bullets' quarterback Marc Saldana who threw three interceptions and was sack four times, once in the Bullets' endzone.
Mad Dogs' quarterback Mark Wilson again had a big night on the ground. He found the endzone three times and finished with 51 yards through the air. The Mad Dogs' finished with 127 rushing yards for the game.
Wide receiver Nick Johnson finished the Mad Dogs' scoring with a four yard scamper with 6:32 left in the third.
