Game Summary

DULUTH, MN-- Fans of Nebraska-style football would have loved the miniature version of Cornhusker ball the Lincoln Lightning played Friday night at the DECC. The Lightning, the Indoor Football League's top scoring team, displayed their form almost to perfection, scoring touchdowns on their first nine possessions to defeat the Duluth Lumberjacks 86-64 before an estimated crowd of 3,500.

Lincoln, behind running back Damon Benning and quarterback Monte Cristo, scored on all its six first-half drives, then withstood a quick Duluth comeback early in the third quarter that cut the Lightning edge to one touchdown. ``That's the way we try and play,'' said Cristo, a former Cornhuskers quarterback who leads a Lightning attack that entered Friday's game averaging 58 points per game.

``Everybody says this is a passing league, but our running game sets up the passing. We feel like we should score every time we get the ball and that's what we try to do.''

Duluth (1-3) lost its third straight game. The Lightning rebounded from a loss last week to improve to 4-1. The Lumberjacks improved markedly on offense, despite committing five turnovers. Duluth scored just 38 points in its previous two games, including 13 last week.
